The author’s spare, straightforward writing style immediately pulled me into the heart of this mother daughter memoir. It feels authentic and real. When I first heard about it, I was ambivalent about reading memoirs (no-holds barred seems to be the norm these days) but I am glad I read this one. It has restored my faith in humanity and the power of giving. The author’s heartfelt belief in being good and how it makes you “lucky” and being able to document it with zero drama (there is no compulsion to fill 300 pages) has motivated me to consider delving into writing a memoir for my next book. Thankyou Kathleen for leading the way. I could not put the book down. And I will be rereading it.
